Approaches to Tibet’s History and its Relevance Today

Speaker: Prof. Michael van Walt van Praag, Visiting Professor of Modern International Relations and International Law at the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton.

The Talk: Understanding the history of Tibet and Inner Asia as well as the different approaches to and perceptions of that history that can shed light not only on the the past but has relevance to the situation today as well. The issue of Tibet, which remains an important problem for China and affects its relations with India, Nepal and other countries, is in many respects grounded in the past, and in perceptions of the past.
