In 2014, over 90 percent of Tibet’s prefectures and counties received outstanding or good grades in the first assessment of environmental protection, according to the bulletin issued by Tibet regional government.

The bulletin shows that during the first half of this year, the leading group of the environmental protection assessment work of the Tibet Autonomous Region made an assessment of governments in 74 counties'(and prefectures’) environmental protection work in 2014, in accordance with the “Tibet Autonomous Region Environmental Protection Assessment Methods”

Tibet is an important national ecological security barrier. Since the 18th Party Congress held in 2012, the level of emphasis for environmental protection work in various prefectures, cities, and counties in Tibet has continuously been improved.

From the beginning, Tibet has maintained good environmental protection, including actively developing environmental protection, integrated renovations, supervision and law enforcement, and working to save energy and reduce emissions. Thanks to these efforts, Tibet’ ecological environment has been well maintained.

The bulletin believes that protecting Tibet’s environment is a great responsibility incumbent upon people of all ethnic groups in the region. Next Tibet will continuously strengthen environmental awareness, uphold development and environmental protection together, reinforce supervision and accountability.
