BHOJPUR: A team of Nepali Congress and CPN-UML leaders visited remote Kimathanka of Sankhuwasabha district bordering China’s Tibet on Monday.

Leaders Ram Sharan Mahat, Sujata Koirala and Deepak Khadka of Nepali Congress and Hari Bairagi Dahal of CPN-UML inspected the Nepal-China border point and held a meeting with Tibetan officials at Kimathanka, according to Khadka.

The leaders acquired information on the construction of Kimathanka-Khandbari road.

The team went to Changa and Dendang of Tibet also.

Kimathanka lies 162 km north of the Sankhuwasabha district headquarters, Khandbari.

The construction of purported 376km Koshi Highway, which is believed to be the shortest route to connect China and India via Nepal, had begun from Kimathanka and Khandbari last year.
