1st cow “beauty contest” launched in Lhasa, Tibet

The 1st “Beauty Contest for Cow” was launched in Lhasa, capital of southwest China’s Tibet Autonomous Region, Aug. 21, 2014.

Authority said the contest aimed to select genetically superior specimens, encourage local herdsmen to apply modern technology and management methods, and boost healthy development of dairy industry on snow plateau.

The cows of all age are rated by experts based on the physique, color, as well as milk production.

The 1st prize finally went to the cow from Tenzin Ngodrup’s family in Nyangri Township, which reached the highest combined score.
