CABINET DECISION: NEPAL ARMY CHARGED WITH TASK TO CONSTRUCT 82-KM GALCHI-KERUNG ROAD

The government has given the responsibility to construct 82 km long road from Galchi in Dhading district to Kerung in China’s Tibet to Nepal Army, Road Department and Ministry of Physical Planning and Transportation.

The government bodies have been charged with the task to complete a two-lane blacktop road within two year, Government Spokesperson and Minister for Information and Communications Sher Dhan Rai said.

A Cabinet meeting on Thursday directed the Finance Ministry to allocate budget for the road. Kerung entry point is believed to the second best route for trading with northern neighbour China after Tatopani border.
The Cabinet has directed the Home Ministry to prepare the details of personal properties damaged during Tarai/Madhes agitation. The government has also directed the Home Ministry to initiate the process to withdraw the cases filed during the agitating.

The meeting has also transferred three government secretaries. Secretary Jaya Mukunda Khanal has been transferred to Defence Ministry from the Ministry of Industry, and Secretary Surya Silwal has been transferred to Industry Ministry from the Land Reform Ministry, while Mid-Western Regional Administrator Mohan Krishna Sapkota has been transferred to Land Reforms Ministry, Minister Rai said.
