China’s Tibetan delegation starts Britain visit

A National People’s Congress (NPC) delegation of legislators from southwest China’s Tibet Autonomous Region on Saturday started a four-day trip in Britain where they will visit the local parliament and a university.

The delegation, headed by Padma Choling, who is also a senior member of China’s NPC Standing Committee, met with the deputy leader of the Manchester City Council Sue Murphy Saturday morning.

Padma Choling said China’s people’s congress at different levels stand ready to strengthen communication with their counterparts in Britain and the Manchester City, to promote the exchanges between the two countries and two peoples.

Murphy, on her side, said she is happy to see the cultural diversity in China and expects to visit Tibet.

The delegation is scheduled to visit the British Parliament and the University of Westminster where they will talk with officials, professors and students.
