Ding Yexian meets political party members of northern Nepal who went to Tibet for inspection

Ding Yexian met Rajendra Prasad Pandey, a member of the CPN-UNL (Communist Party of Nepal-Unified Marxist Leninist) who led a team of political party members of northern Nepal to Lhasa to carry out investigations. Ding Yexian extended a warm welcome to this inspection team on behalf of the TAR Party Committee and the People’s government of TAR.

After giving a general outline of the current situation of Tibet, Ding Yexian said that China and Nepal were neighbours connected through mountains and rivers and the Chinese and the Nepalese were like brothers sailing towards the same direction. Friendship, partnership and good neighbourly relations based on the five principles of Peaceful Co-existance between China and Nepal has developed since the establishement of diplomatic relations between the two countries 59 years ago.

Ding Yexian said that Nepal has firmly supported China on the Tibet issue and has taken great efforts to maintain friendly and neighbourly relations and peace on the Sino-Nepal border. “China is truly grateful for this.” Ding said with the establishement of 60 years of diplomatic ties between the two countries next year, he hoped that comprehensive cooperation and interaction with Nepalese governent and political parties as well as with leading opinion makers of the country would continue to grow. He also hoped to further develop on the improved communications between the National People’s Congress and CPPCC with Nepal’s all-party conference on constitution drafting and promote exchange and cooperation in the fields of trade, culture, tourism and take the traditional friendship between the two countries to a new level. He said that “I also hope that the investigation team gets a glimpse of the real and developing Tibet through this trip”.

Rajiv Prasad Pandey said the Nepalese government and the three major political parties of Nepal as well as the people of Nepal would always support China’s stand and would not let any anti-China forces carry out anti- China activities inside Nepal. He hoped that China will support the construction and development of Nepal, give more aid to Nepal and take the neighbourliness, friendship and cooperation between the two countries to a new height.
