Recently, experts from the Qinghai Territory Resource Burea passed the final acceptance test of the Mt. A-nye Machen National Geological Park, marking the establishment of the geologic park with China’s largest glacial coverage, people.cn reported.
At present, the scenic spot has viewing platforms, parking lots, and a geological museum along with other basic facilities installed, in a bid to receive its first guests.
The Mt. A-nye Machen National Geologic Park is located in Machen County of Qinghai Province, with a total area of 1030 square kilometers and at an average altitude of 5,000 meters.
There are a total of 57 glaciers covering an area of 126 square kilometers which formed in both the Quaternary as well as current geologic periods. This area has some of the most intact Paleo-Asian geological land formations. Following weathering deposition and glacial movement the Mt. A-nye Machen naturally possesses rich geological formations.
Here in the park can also be found distributions of the snow leopard, lynx and other rare wild animals.
