One of the objectives of the Foundation for Non-violent Alternatives (FNVA) is to work on issues of peace and conflict resolution.
India’s premier Educational Research and Training institution is in the process of reforming teacher education. A special application oriented programme for school teachers is being developed by the institution to equip teachers with knowledge and tools to bring concepts of peace and conflict resolution into their day to day teachings.
In order for teachers to communicate concepts of peace, non-violence and conflict resolution to their school children, the teachers own knowledge, attitude and skills have to be molded for communicating these concepts. Students have to be made to understand: conflicts, process and strategies of conflict resolution – dialogue, persuasion, mediation, negotiation etc., development of conflict resolution skills and creativity in handling conflicts and solving problems of day to day life in an easy and an interesting manner. This multimedia tools offers (when completed) the teachers a rich resource library equipped with training modules, games, interactive sessions, documentary films etc. The module is in preparation and more information follows shortly.
