The Three Gorges Dam in Yichang, Hubei Province generated its one trillionth kilowatt-hour (kWh) on Wednesday after 14 years in operation.

The total generated amount is said to be roughly seven times Shanghai’s  power consumption 2015, Xinhua News Agency reports.

As the world’s largest hydroelectric power plant, the Three Gorges Dam has a combined generating capacity of 22.5 million kilowatts and a annual generating capacity of 88.2 billion kWh.

Throughout its time in operation, the plant has gradually reduced its coal consumption by 319 million tonnes, as well as cutting its emissions of carbon dioxide and sulphur dioxide by 858 million tonnes and 8.99 million tonnes respectively.

In November last year, the Three Gorges Dam unveiled the world’s biggest shiplift, which at 40-storeys high alllows ships as heavy as 3,000 tonnes to travel up or down the Yangtze River.
