UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal met Chinese President Xi Jinping at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing on Thursday afternoon.
The meeting revolved around four main issues — economic development in Nepal, bilateral ties between the countries, relations between UCPN (M) and the Communist Party of China and the ‘free’ Tibet movement, said a member of Dahal’s entourage.
During the 45-minute-long meeting, Xi said China valued its relations with Nepal and wanted to take the partnership to a new level, Chinese media reported.
President Xi told Dahal that the Chinese Communist Party would continue to cooperate with the UCPN (Maoist) and other major political parties as they have played a positive role in promoting friendship between the two countries.
During the exchange, Dahal said Nepali parties hope to improve cooperation with China in the fields of economy, technology and infrastructure. He also highlighted the need to jointly promote friendly relations in the neighbourhood . Dahal said Nepal would continue to maintain its one-China policy, a report added.
