HA NOI (VNS) — Viet Nam and China agreed to sign an agreement on navigation at the mouth of the Bac Luan River at the end of the sixth round of talks on the matter in Beijing yesterday.

Following discussions on differences, the two sides concurred on all articles and signed the draft documents on the “agreement on boats and ships” and the attached “regulations of navigation.”

The countries agreed to verify the draft agreement based on their respective countries’ laws and hold the next round of talks to prepare for the signing of the agreement.

The conclusion of talks and the early signing of agreements on navigation at the mouth of Bac Luan River and protection of tourism resources at Ban Gioc Waterfall within this year is expected to boost economic exchanges, trade, tourism and co-operation between border localities, demonstrating their resolve to build a peaceful, co-operative, stable and friendly border. — VNS
